Looking to get rid of stretch marks? What are your Stretch Mark Removal Treatment Options in Singapore?

Read on to find out more.

A stretch mark appears when our skin stretches or shrinks rapidly. In most cases, this sudden change is caused by a rupture of collagen and elastin, which support our skin. During the healing process, stretch marks may appear on our skin. The development of these narrow bands of skin can also be caused by hormones and genes.

The colour of stretch marks can vary from red, purple, pink, reddish-brown, or dark brown, depending on the individual’s skin color. Stretch marks may appear on your skin as thin red or purple streaks. It may seem slightly raised and feel itchy, so it’s best to seek treatment as soon as possible.

As stretch marks mature, the color fades and the narrow bands begin to disappear below the surface of the skin. You can notice how differently the stretch marks feel compared to the surrounding skin. It is common to also feel a slight depression in the skin.

How do stretch marks form?

When the epidermis (upper layer of the skin) is stretched rapidly, the dermis (lower layer of the skin), unable to grow quickly enough, tears. The skin becomes more elastic as it continuously expands and tears, disrupting the normal production of collagen.

Changes in hormone levels during pregnancy, puberty, and bodybuilding can also increase the fragility of the skin, making it more prone to tearing.

What are the options for Stretch Mark Removal Treatments in Singapore?

While there may be a plethora of stretch mark treatments such as topical creams that are marketed to help reduce the appearance of stretch marks, for some, they might not be able to yield any significant results from these options.

As such, at Ensoul, we utilize a wide repertoire of lasers and energy devices for stretch mark removal. Each treatment is customized to treat different patients with varying conditions of stretch marks.

Medical Lasers

The fractional Erbium Yag laser is one of the treatments we use. Laser energy can be delivered gently and generate heat beneath the skin without causing injury. The deeper layers of the skin begin to be injured by controlled thermal injury.

By promoting skin remodeling and tightening, it stimulates production. One of the reasons why we prefer to use Erbium Yag laser as compared to CO2 lasers is because it produces less downtime and has lower risk of Post Inflammatory Hyperpigmentation (PIH).

We use yellow lasers or the long-pulsed Nd Yag laser to treat immature stretch marks. The use of this treatment can reduce the appearance and itching associated with stretch marks.

Radio Frequency Devices

Radio Frequency devices are also effective treatments for stretch marks. During these treatments, small needles penetrate the skin and deliver heat energy to it without injuring it.

During the healing process, the body will stimulate collagen production by remodeling and tightening the skin within the affected area.
The Puro RF treatment stimulates collagen and elastin fibers by passing an electric current via the affected area. As a result of the thermal energy, collagen production occurs in the skin, reducing laxity.

With Intensif, RF energy is transmitted through the insulated needles by micro needling. With longer needles, the RF energy can penetrate deeper into the skin to stimulate collagen production. Both treatments are suitable for treating stretch marks.

SculpSure | Laser Thermolysis

SculpSure is an FDA Approved non-invasive fat removal treatment method. However, in addition to its primary function as a fat removal treatment, SculpSure also works as an effective solution for stretch marks removal treatment.

The laser heat energy is able to penetrate deep into the dermal layers of the skin. This stimulates collagen production, resulting in a tighter and smoother appearance of the skin over time.
