Get Rid of Stubborn Fat with CoolSculpting®

What Body Areas can CoolSculpting® Treat?

The CoolSculpting® procedure is FDA approved for reducing fat without invasive surgery.
In this procedure, fat cells under the skin are targeted and destroyed by cryolipolysis. A single treatment of CoolSculpting® is able to remove 20% to 27%* of fat in the targeted area.
Aside from reducing belly fat, CoolSculpting can also reduce double chin fat, arm fat, gynecomastia, flanks, and love handles, as well as inner and outer thighs.

How does Fat Freezing work?
The targeted area is first applied with vacuum applicators. These applicators target fat cells at temperatures as low as -13°C by using vacuum pressure to draw the tissue between the cooling panels.
Under the impact of these temperatures, the fat cells in the targeted areas then go through apoptosis (cell death) and are eliminated from the body over the course of 3 months. The CoolSculpting (Cryolipolysis) procedure results in a significant reduction in the fat layer thickness below the skin surface, leading to a more well-proportioned physique.

Stubborn pocket of fat that is resistant to any form of dieting or exercise.

CoolSculpting uses controlled cooling to target and crystallizes the fat cells and triggers cell apoptosis (cell death) with no damage to the nerves or surrounding tissues.

Following the treatment, the fat cells enter an apoptotic death and are gradually removed by the body’s natural lymphatic system.

Following the treatment, the remaining cells condense, reducing the fat layer.

When you diet and lose weight, fat cells shrink, but the number of fat cells remains the same. Fat cells do not disappear when you lose weight.
Weight loss or gain does not affect the number of cells. A fat cell grows or shrinks only by losing or gaining lipids. Fat cells grow larger as a result of an increase in lipids in the body – which then causes weight gain. Similarly, when a fat cell drains its lipids, it shrinks-but it still remains in the body.

With CoolSculpting, fat cells in the targeted areas can be reduced by up to 27%*.
A targeted area’s fat cells will be processed and eliminated naturally, and cannot be transferred to any other parts of the body. The targeted fat is eliminated over the course of 12 weeks via the body’s natural lymphatic system.
Complementary Treatments
The results of fat removal can be achieved more effectively with complementary treatments such as Onda CoolWaves.
Through Onda Coolwaves’ microwave technology, lymphatic drainage is improved, and skin is tightened. In addition, it also helps to accelerate the breakdown of fat post-treatment.
Body Reviews
At Ensoul Body Medical Clinic, we conduct regular body reviews to ensure that patients are responding well to treatment after 12 weeks, to track their progress, and to make sure everything is well.

CoolSculpting FAQs
Generally, unless advised otherwise, one session of CoolSculpting treatment is sufficient and usually recommended for treating stubborn fat deposits. However, the number of sessions can vary from person to person as the results depends upon factors like their size, the volume of fat deposits in the treatment area, as well as your own expectations.
No, the CoolSculpting treatment does not cause pain. During the treatment, a gel pad and applicator are applied to the targeted area. Applicators that use vacuum will draw the tissue into the applicator cup. You may experience pulling, tugging and mild pinching during the procedure. Controlled cooling is then delivered to the targeted fat, so you may feel cold during the procedure as well. After the CoolSculpting treatment, patients are usually able to normal activities with minimal downtime.
CoolSculpting’s patented protection system – the Freeze Detect® Technology, is designed to stop treatment immediately upon detecting any abnormal activity during the procedure. These abnormal activities include instances where the system detects the risk of a freeze burn. The CoolControl® technology measures the patient’s body temperature through multiple sensors in real-time and adjusts its temperature levels during the treatment to ensure consistency and maintain the ideal temperatures required for optimal results.
Both CoolSculpting and liposuction are medical procedures used for reducing stubborn body fat, the difference lies in that one involves surgery, and one does not.
Liposuction is a surgical procedure designed to remove small to large volumes of fat from the body by suction. Anesthesia needs to be administered prior to the surgery and hospitalization is sometimes needed post-surgery, depending on the volume of fat removed during the procedure.
Coolsculpting is a non-invasive procedure that does not involve surgery or anesthesia of any kind and comes with very minor side effects as compared to surgical fat removal procedures. There is no downtime involved in CoolSculpting procedures, which means you can return immediately to your normal routines.
The CoolSculpting procedure is followed up with a shockwave therapy session. This treatment helps to facilitate and further breakdown the crystallized fat cells and improve lymphatic drainage.
After the treatment has been administered, the body will begin its natural process of flushing out the crystallized fat cells through the body’s natural disposal system. The body will continue this process over the following weeks post-treatment.
Clinical data reviews and surveys have shown patient satisfaction ranging from 73-91% depending on the body area treated. The time it takes to see results also varies, depending on each individual as well as the treated area. Patients usually begin to observe more significant results at the 12 week mark or 3 months after their treatment. For example, patients who were treated under their chin saw a reduction of fat layer thickness 3 months post-treatment.
Many people, after seeing the results from their CoolSculpting procedure, tend to take even better care of themselves. While the fat that has been treated and passed out is permanently eliminated, the key to retaining the results is to maintain your weight through a lifestyle that combines a healthy, well-nourished diet and an active daily routine.
The following effects can occur in the treatment area during and after a treatment. These effects are temporary and generally resolve within days or weeks without the need for medical attention.
During a treatment:
-
Sensations of pulling, tugging and mild pinching at the treatment site
-
Intense cold, tingling, stinging, aching, and cramping. These sensations may subside as the area becomes numb
Immediately after the treatment:
- Redness and firmness
- Transient blanching and/or mild bruising around the edges of the treatment area
- Tingling and stinging
One to two weeks post-treatment:
- Redness, bruising and swelling
- Tenderness, cramping or aching
- Itching, skin sensitivity, tingling and numbness
- Sensations of fullness in the back of the throat after submental area treatment
Paradoxical Adispose Hyperplasia (PAH) is a rare, previously unreported side effect where targeted fat cells increase in size instead of decreasing. The exact mechanism causing the development of paradoxical adispose hyperplasia remains unclear, however, based on a study conducted by the manufacturer of CoolSculpting, Allergan, the risk of PAH is 1 in 4000 cycles, or 0.025%.
