Body Sculpting and Fat Freezing Treatments in Singapore
With the growing popularity of non-invasive or non-surgical body sculpting and fat freezing treatments in Singapore, people are beginning to pay more attention to their bodies.
Non-invasive fat removal treatments such as fat freezing is a process that targets and destroys fat cells removing stubborn pockets of fat without surgery. These treatments can effectively remove fat from several different areas of the body, including the abdomen, thighs, bottom, and upper arms.
However, when it comes to choosing a fat freezing treatment, be sure to take note if it has received proper approval to verify that it is safe to carry out fat removal. Check out our article to find out more about the importance of FDA Approval when choosing a non-invasive fat removal treatment for you!
What is CoolSculpting®?
CoolSculpting® is an FDA Approved non-invasive fat-reduction treatment.
Also known as fat freezing, it uses Cryolipolysis to target and destroys the fat cells under the surface of the skin. CoolSculpting® is able to remove 20 to 27%* of fat in a single treatment.
Additionally, CoolSculpting can eliminate belly fat, double chin fat, arm fat, gynecomastia, flanks and love handles, as well as inner and outer thigh fat.
Fat Freeze Treatment: How Does It Work?
CoolSculpting delivers controlled cooling to target fat cells beneath the skin.
The first step is to place vacuum applicators in the targeted area. By utilizing vacuum pressure, these applicators draw tissue between cooling panels and use patented cooling technology to target fat cells at -13° C.
Under the impact of these temperatures, the fat cells in the targeted areas then go through apoptosis (cell death) and breakdown. Following that, they are eliminated from the body over a period of three months.
The CoolSculpting (Cryolipolysis) procedure results in a significant reduction in the fat layer thickness below the skin surface, leading to a more well-proportioned physique.
CoolSculpting (Fat Freezing) Applicators
There is no one-size-fits-all solution. Therefore, CoolSculpting (Fat Freezing) offers a wide range of applicators.
CoolSculpting offers a plethora of applicators to fit every unique contour for different individuals. With the wide range of applicators, CoolSculpting can target different areas of the body efficiently, from the chin to the knees to the inner thighs accordingly.

Thorough knowledge of fat-freezing technology, as well as an understanding of anatomy, are required to achieve desired results. Thus, CoolSculpting providers should have experience selecting the right applicator, ensuring correct positioning, as well as using the different types of applicators.
CoolSculpting Freeze Detect® Fat Freezing Technology
Ensuring the safety of our patients is at the heart of what we do. In the same way, through the CoolSculpting® Freeze Detect technology system, we can ensure the safety as well as the comfort of our patients during fat-freezing treatments.
Freeze Detect® is a patented protection system that is able to adjust its temperature levels, to ensure consistency as well as maintain the ideal temperatures during the treatment. Specifically, any detection of abnormal activity stops the treatment immediately.
This minimizes the risk of tissue damage and prevents freeze burns. Additionally, the CoolControl® technology also measures the patient’s body temperature through multiple sensors in real-time.
The Science Behind CoolSculpting®
Researchers at Harvard University discovered the basis for fat freezing, or Cryolipolysis, or CoolSculpting when they noticed that some children developed cheek dimples after eating ice popsicles.
Afterward, this discovery then led to the realization that cold temperatures can selectively damage small pockets of fat cells. It has over 52 peer-reviewed medical papers on the science and results of CoolSculpting and over 8 million treatment cycles.

The Process of Cryolipolysis
Generally, unless advised otherwise, one session of CoolSculpting treatment is sufficient and usually recommended for treating stubborn fat deposits. However, the number of sessions can vary from person to person as the results depends upon factors like their size, the volume of fat deposits in the treatment area, as well as your own expectations.
No, the CoolSculpting treatment does not cause pain. During the treatment, a gel pad and applicator are applied to the targeted area. Applicators that use vacuum will draw the tissue into the applicator cup. You may experience pulling, tugging and mild pinching during the procedure. Controlled cooling is then delivered to the targeted fat, so you may feel cold during the procedure as well. After the CoolSculpting treatment, patients are usually able to normal activities with minimal downtime.
CoolSculpting’s patented protection system – the Freeze Detect® Technology, is designed to stop treatment immediately upon detecting any abnormal activity during the procedure. These abnormal activities include instances where the system detects the risk of a freeze burn. The CoolControl® technology measures the patient’s body temperature through multiple sensors in real-time and adjusts its temperature levels during the treatment to ensure consistency and maintain the ideal temperatures required for optimal results.
Both CoolSculpting and liposuction are medical procedures used for reducing stubborn body fat, the difference lies in that one involves surgery, and one does not.
Liposuction is a surgical procedure designed to remove small to large volumes of fat from the body by suction. Anesthesia needs to be administered prior to the surgery and hospitalization is sometimes needed post-surgery, depending on the volume of fat removed during the procedure.
Coolsculpting is a non-invasive procedure that does not involve surgery or anesthesia of any kind and comes with very minor side effects as compared to surgical fat removal procedures. There is no downtime involved in CoolSculpting procedures, which means you can return immediately to your normal routines.
The CoolSculpting procedure is followed up with a shockwave therapy session. This treatment helps to facilitate and further breakdown the crystallized fat cells and improve lymphatic drainage.
After the treatment has been administered, the body will begin its natural process of flushing out the crystallized fat cells through the body’s natural disposal system. The body will continue this process over the following weeks post-treatment.
Clinical data reviews and surveys have shown patient satisfaction ranging from 73-91% depending on the body area treated. The time it takes to see results also varies, depending on each individual as well as the treated area. Patients usually begin to observe more significant results at the 12 week mark or 3 months after their treatment. For example, patients who were treated under their chin saw a reduction of fat layer thickness 3 months post-treatment.
Many people, after seeing the results from their CoolSculpting procedure, tend to take even better care of themselves. While the fat that has been treated and passed out is permanently eliminated, the key to retaining the results is to maintain your weight through a lifestyle that combines a healthy, well-nourished diet and an active daily routine.
The following effects can occur in the treatment area during and after a treatment. These effects are temporary and generally resolve within days or weeks without the need for medical attention.
During a treatment:
Sensations of pulling, tugging and mild pinching at the treatment site
Intense cold, tingling, stinging, aching, and cramping. These sensations may subside as the area becomes numb
Immediately after the treatment:
- Redness and firmness
- Transient blanching and/or mild bruising around the edges of the treatment area
- Tingling and stinging
One to two weeks post-treatment:
- Redness, bruising and swelling
- Tenderness, cramping or aching
- Itching, skin sensitivity, tingling and numbness
- Sensations of fullness in the back of the throat after submental area treatment
Paradoxical Adispose Hyperplasia (PAH) is a rare, previously unreported side effect where targeted fat cells increase in size instead of decreasing. The exact mechanism causing the development of paradoxical adispose hyperplasia remains unclear, however, based on a study conducted by the manufacturer of CoolSculpting, Allergan, the risk of PAH is 1 in 4000 cycles, or 0.025%.
